Healthcare is going “retail” and why it’s actually a good idea

Over the last few years, the focus of the healthcare sector began to shift towards the retail model – known national retailers like Walmart and Target are getting into the healthcare industry by building clinics, some of them located inside their actual stores, stand-alone clinics that are being run like retailers are emerging and becoming popular among patients, and the business model for many clinics are turning towards the retail model.

Convenience and the tried-and-tested formula of the retail model may be factors that are driving this move, but it is a welcome one because the increased competition will lead to more innovations and even a lowering of prices.
